London Docklands

The steel and glass structures of the Docklands development are a photographer's paradise. All reflections, angles and towering geometry.

Rowena and Eugene - Hello guys. Thanks for viewing, I have slipped a link to you on my photoblog. I like the cat pics!

Kimberly - these are views of the newest urban redevelopment in London. In fact Docklands is roughly 5 miles from central London. It was a terrorist target itself some years ago and security there seems pretty tough now...

Transience - me too! see you there - bring a parasol...

It's blazing here I'm wilting in this unaccustomed heat.

did i ever tell you i have british blood? well i do, a lot of it. sometimes i wish my ancestors just settled in london, where everything is picture-perfect. but no, they had to be princesses in a third world country. aaaagh.

i should go there soon. i'll take pictures of londoners and bring frivolous umbrellas and sing in the rain.

Mussolini - no I think it slipped your mind but I surmised as much from your clues. 'Singing in the rain' may be a touch melodramatic but certainly worth the effort!! Be sure to post your perfect pictures...

Genealogy is a big interest for me and it also conveniently satisfies my virgo cataloguing urges. My lot were from the Midlands in the 1700s but moved to London (like most aspiring folk) and settled there for 150 years before beetling back to the comfort of the shires at the end of the Victorian era. Good stories there for sure.

Actually a third world princess sounds mysterious and fasinating.

my grandfather was a Tudor. are we related? hahaha

Mussolini - I haven't found traces back to the 1500s yet but considering the miniscule population at the time I would say we're almost certainly distant cousins!!

I recently took some photos of the Docklands area. Great isn't it? How can you not take pictures? Coincidently I just uploaded a shot from Canary Wharf today on my blog. Have a look if you like. Looking at your photos we probably took pretty much the same stuff :-D

- Al hough just as I was finishing my shoot a stupid security guard informed me that I was not allowed to take photos because of the threat of bombs... I tried to argue the holes in his logic so large that you could drive an articulated lorry through them... well, you can guess how that went :-D

Best Wishes
