"Good morning!"

They test fly early in the morning. This one came directly over our house. I was awoken by the roar of its burners at 6:00am. I stood in my garden looking up and we called out 'good morning' to each other. A very strange moment. He couldn't stay aloft and landed in a nearby school field.

there's some mystical, elusive quality to balloons i can't quite put my finger on. they're stuck between two worlds--the romanticism and the aerodynamics of flight. never been on a balloon, btw.

Me neither. I am not good with heights. I went on a plane for the first time only 3 years ago, really! A balloon flight must be an amazing experience, silent, never properly under control and yes, oh so romantic.
